Darcha Lamayuru Across Zanskar Himalayas

" Overall, the trek went very well, spectacular scenery, fascinating gompas, a look at rural life. Karma cooked excellent food throughout, even when the supplies i.e. vegetable, ran low, as we were unable to buy supplies in Padum ( due to circumtances at Kargil ). He structured the trek, to avoid very long, difficult days, assisted with river crossing and was very helpful. Vilati is an excellent and efficient pony man. He treated the animals well when unwell and particularly impressed with getting over Shingo La so early in season (May). Also to Prem for assisting up until this stage over pass and for cleaning up campsite it was very good to see this attitude to the environment 5 sacks of other begs as rubbish at Zanskar Sumdo. Tsering did an excellent job thanks also for assistance with translating throughout .

Padum Trek

"We did the beautiful and very scenic trek from Darcha to Padum. It was not only good because of the scenery but especially of the good relationship we had with our horseman and our guide who was on the same time an excellent. We had many various dishes from India, China and local Zanskarian food. The whole trek was a big experience. Our guide gave us the posibility to get a deep look in the daily life of the Zanskarian people. We can just thank our trekking team for those wonderful days and want to recommend them highly" .

The food was excellent and every effort was to made to make sure we were comfortable and happy at all times. Its amazing how much difference a sensitive and caring guide can make to the trek and we learnt many things about local culture in our chats around campsite. Many thanks and see you again soon".

Darcha Padum trek

"The Darcha Padum trek is wanderful and not too strenuous, other than Shingo La pass. Tashi was a friendly guide, keeping up good humour in the group. Very nice. They all cooked up dhal, soups, samosas etc and the hot chocolate went down a treat. Nurbu , the helper was excellent, very helpful and friendly. And the horseman too were good members of the group, horses and luggage arrived safely every evening. Thankyou".

We are very happy, we did this trek. The pass Hamta was really beautiful. The guide was friendly and helpful. The fifth day, without horses it maybe was altitude, heavy for them to carry our backpacks. But they did a great job. Thanks, and it was worth to do this trek.

MANALA TREK

Through Lahoul and Spiti and over Parang La and pass at 18.300 ft to the lake Tso Moriri and ending up at Pang on the Manali Leh road. It was a demanding but fabulous trek which I highly recommend to anyone who wants a real adventure. Darcha Lamayuru Trek

"At first I had no intention of using a trekking agency to backpack from Darcha to Lamayuru. 20 minutes in the Potala Adventurers office changed my mind. They are by far the friendiest agency in Manali. Our on the trail they provide more of an experience then I could have hoped for. Urgen and crew are an exceptional choice of the villagers you pass through, especially if you want a chilled pitcher of Chang at the end of the day. All in all, highly recommended. Manali Dharamsala via Bara- Bangahal Trek. Himachal India

"Manali Bir, brilliant trek, fantastic scenery, rough and smooth. The horseman were too really funny guys and very good. The guide was good. Excellent food, camping and great service. Starting with the CHAI in bed at 7 am. Saw many GADDI shepherds and some interesting stone and tarpaulin huts. Interesting to go up high. The first pass and the thin air, two steps stop and get the breathing night. Slowly slowly and no problam. Bara Bangahal was friendly and an untypical Hindu village in its location and building. Days from any roads. I would throughly recommend the journey, it took us 12 days, including a day rest. Great journey. I would recommend anyone with tip top knees". Christopher Harpender.

Darcha Padum Trek Zanskar Himalayas

"I really do recommend the Darcha Padum Trek provided by Potala Travels. We undertook this trek in August 97 ( 3 person ). In fact it is an extremly beautiful 7-9 days trek, depending on personal condition. I also strongly recommend Sonam Dawa as a Guide, who not only knows to take care about the tourist, but also to deal with the horseman. So without any doubt I recommend to go on a " trip " with Potala Adventurers, certainly also to any other location in Ladakh and Zanskar"

Dacha - Lamayuru Zanskar Traverse

"Since tomorrow we will finish our trek from Darcha to Lamayuru. We like to say a few things about it.

We travelled together with Shiva as our horseman (The best in Manali) Ram Kumar (cook) and K.T. whose name he has to write in ful himself (Kunchok Tsering ) who was our guide.

For the entire three weeks we felt save and comfortable, we enjoyed their perfact service and we didnt have to care about anything. Their equipment surpasses our imagination, the food was always carefully prepared and plentiful. Because we were so happy with he trek we thought we should give this recommendation book to K.T.with hope that you also enjoy your time with his team.

Manali: Solang valley and Beas Kund trek

Accommodation: “Sleeping bags were very high quality and tents were spacious. Shower facilities provided at end of trek were an added bonus. Food: Surpassed all expectations. We were fed huge portions and there were always enough snacks to get us up the last few hundred meters. Service: Everyone was very welcoming and helpful, always ready to answer our questions. The friendly campfires at night topped off the experience. Trek: The Beas Kund trek was exactly what we were looking for. The scenery was breathtaking and our guide Ravinder was always ready to accommodate our request and take us up to 4000m. Overall: the fantastic few days in the beautiful part of the country made better by booking our trek with Potala Adventurers Company. We would definitely recommend Potala Adventurers to our friends! ”.

Ladakh to Spiti trek and climb of Kanamo peak

“I have completed the Parang la trek from Karzok to Kibber and Kanamo peak from 08 Aug. 2011 to 20 Aug. 2011 organized by Potala Adventurers, with leading Guide Umesh and assistant Guide Ravinder. They are professional, experience, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.  Umesh has assisted me several times on the river crossings and willing to wait for me, as I am always walking slowly. With no complaints, and also give me support with encouragement on passing the Parang la pass and on the Kanamo peak and give full support on during the road blocking on the Batal – Chatru. He also shared with me of his climbing experience and others about the regional history & culture to make the trip interesting.  Ravinder served as assistant guide but also acted as cook on the trek. He has done a good job on cooking includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. I like much of his fried rice and noodles, potato chips and mixed veg. He also clean up campsite area and burnoff the garbage before leaving, in support of the eco-tourism.

I also like to thank you Tenzin Ningbo to secure me the bus ticket New Del / Manali / Del and the booking on the sunshine guest house which provide me the comfortable and nice stay. As well as to Ningbo for all his support me during my stay in Manali.

Last but not least, I would like to thank you Mr. Prem Singh of Potala Adventurers to well organize of this trek, the trek is challenging and overall the trip is rewarding, especially on the Spiti valley tour. I would like to come back very soon in the near future for another trek”.

Manali: Hamta Pass Trek

Hi Prem,

Our Hamta Pass trek was awesome. The entire Potala Adventurers team- Kenjil (your brother), Ravinder (Guide), Dinesh (Cook), and the porters were very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the trek and the company of your team right from booking till the end.

The trek was beautiful and adventurous. Ravinder and his team made the whole treking experience wonderful. We were really impressed by Ravinder's knowledge and passion for the mountains. He was very friendly and caring which made the whole treking experience even more beautiful. He also mastered his team (cook and porters) very well. All the staff was very nice, committed and cheerful. The food and camping arrangements throughout five days were excellent.

Manali: Beas Kund trek and Solang valley - 3 nights 4 days

Mr. Prem Singh,

Thanks for organising the trek - from our perspective it was very enjoyable and met our objective of a light and comfortable trek. I would definitely like to recommend your name to anyone going for a trek starting from Manali and especially highlight the flexibility you offered in organising a cost effective trek for only two people, the good and hot food and courteous and helpful staff.

We are currently planning another trek (after 1-2 months), may be to Hamta pass, with a group of 2-4 people. Will be in touch with you for the same.

Once again thanks very much for a memorable experience.

regards,

Rajat and friend - 18 June - 21 June 2011

Manali: Hampta Pass Trek

Potala Adventurers has gone out of the way to make my Hamta pass trek truly memorable.  The Guide and porters were true professionals. They were able to assist me in providing information to questions I have and also helped me cross steep glaciers along the way. This is crucial for me, having little experience walking in ice. I also wish to compliment them on the elaborated food dished out everyday and appreciate the extra blankets when weather turns cold. I also deeply appreciate the company for helping me make pre and post trip accommodation and onward travel arrangements without being asked and providing invaluable advice.

David L. – SINGAPORE – 11 June 2011

I went on the Hamta pass trek in early June.  I had not read much about the trek before I left, so I didn’t know what I had coming. I was positively surprised with the good knowledge the Guide had about the areas we were passing through.  He seems to have real passion for mountains and trekking, which was really encouraging for me. The cook did his best to provide us with the nice dishes as far as it could be done.  All the staff on the trek acted professionally in every situation, even when my trek partner was forced to make decision to return with the porters. The cook and the Guide did their best to serve me the food I needed on the last two days of the trek, although we didn’t carry any cooking equipment with us. The tent and sleeping bags we were given were also just right for the wind and weather conditions. Altogether an amazing experience I won’t forget.
