Zanskar to Dharamsala

Few high passages across the main Himalayas spine provide the variety and rewards of high level trek as does the Pin Parvati, connecting the tributary of the Beas which it joins near the Bhunter and the Pin which flows into Spiti. With extreme difference in climate, Pin valley is much more rugged and barren than the Parvati valley. This cold desert valley with its snowy crags, cliff and crevasses, jagged rocks and other fossils make Pin valley a unique geological lab. Winter plays havoc here as ferocious blizzards and snowstorms send the glaciers cracking, ravaging the valleys rugged moonscape. But its long rain free summer is a prime time for the adventurers to see Spitis wild life in motion when the predatory snow leopard, red fox, marten, weasel, Himalayan Pika, bearded vulture, golden eagle, lynx and Tibetan wolf roam in the park (area is conserved as a national park 1987).  Unlike the most Himalayan mountain passes, discover by sheperds in search of  good pasture for their herds of sheep, yaks, goat.  Probably one of the most finest trekking route in Himachal Pradesh.  This combo trek offers some of great peaks that closely adjust all along route are over 6000m.

Beginning to this trip, we start first with discovering ancient villages and monasteries of Lahaul and Spiti. For better acclimating before starting trek from Mud viilage in Pin valley.  Exploring great sites of Kardang, Triloknath, Miyar valley,  Shashur, lapchang, Piukar in Lahaul valley we travel along the Chandra river and visit the beautiful lake of Chandratal known as moon of lake. And trek up to Kunzom pass 4551m and get in to Spiti valley.  Discovering great monastery of Kee, high village of Kibber and Tashi gang. Fossils trails of Langza hikkim Comik.  Another great sites are Lalung, Dhankhar and Tabo. An ancient village and 1000 years monastic complex has many things to offer and discover. Finally we travel to Pin valley at Kungri gompa. And start our magnificient trek at village of Guling. Crossing some picturesque villages of Kara, Tilling, Sagnum and last village of Mud.   we head up towards pin parvati pass along the pIn river. Pin parvati pass is transition zone between two valley, its just not a passage that connecting two different valley. This pass first explored by an English , Mr. Dane Louis in 1897. At top of Pin Parvati 5319 mtrs we will have panoramic view of numerous peaks: Parvati South, Parvati North, Pinnacle, Kullu Eiger more than 6`000 mtrs.  Down the valley of Parbati the landscape changes from dry deserted to alpine pasture to dense forest. And first part of trek terminates at Barshani before Manikaran. We will drive to Manali via visiting nagger castle and Roerich art Musuem.

After refreshing in Manali we start our second part of trek of Bara-Bangahal, home of Gaddi sheperds of Himachal Pradesh.  We Cross Dhauladhar range of Himalaya. Dhauladhar range divides Kullu and Kangra valley. We cross high pass of Kalihani over 4500 m and trek along the river. Discovering Gaddi life at Bara – bangahal village we cross our 2nd high pass of Thamser. And descend to Bir – billing. Famous spot for para-glading and Hand glading in India. And finally transfer to Dharamsala – Home of His Holiness Dalai Lama and number of Tibetan living here. Exploring Mcleodganj finally we drive to Delhi .

Manali: Solang valley and Beas Kund trek

Accommodation: “Sleeping bags were very high quality and tents were spacious. Shower facilities provided at end of trek were an added bonus. Food: Surpassed all expectations. We were fed huge portions and there were always enough snacks to get us up the last few hundred meters. Service: Everyone was very welcoming and helpful, always ready to answer our questions. The friendly campfires at night topped off the experience. Trek: The Beas Kund trek was exactly what we were looking for. The scenery was breathtaking and our guide Ravinder was always ready to accommodate our request and take us up to 4000m. Overall: the fantastic few days in the beautiful part of the country made better by booking our trek with Potala Adventurers Company. Ladakh to Spiti trek and climb of Kanamo peak

“I have completed the Parang la trek from Karzok to Kibber and Kanamo peak from 08 Aug. 2011 to 20 Aug. 2011 organized by Potala Adventurers, with leading Guide Umesh and assistant Guide Ravinder. They are professional, experience, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.  Umesh has assisted me several times on the river crossings and willing to wait for me, as I am always walking slowly. With no complaints, and also give me support with encouragement on passing the Parang la pass and on the Kanamo peak and give full support on during the road blocking on the Batal – Chatru. He also shared with me of his climbing experience and others about the regional history & culture to make the trip interesting.  Ravinder served as assistant guide but also acted as cook on the trek. He has done a good job on cooking includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. I like much of his fried rice and noodles, potato chips and mixed veg. He also clean up campsite area and burnoff the garbage before leaving, in support of the eco-tourism.

I also like to thank you Tenzin Ningbo to secure me the bus ticket New Del / Manali / Del and the booking on the sunshine guest house which provide me the comfortable and nice stay. As well as to Ningbo for all his support me during my stay in Manali.

Last but not least, I would like to thank you Mr. Prem Singh of Potala Adventurers to well organize of this trek, the trek is challenging and overall the trip is rewarding, especially on the Spiti valley tour. I would like to come back very soon in the near future for another trek”.

Manali: Hamta Pass Trek

Hi Prem,

Our Hamta Pass trek was awesome. The entire Potala Adventurers team- Kenjil (your brother), Ravinder (Guide), Dinesh (Cook), and the porters were very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the trek and the company of your team right from booking till the end.

The trek was beautiful and adventurous. Ravinder and his team made the whole treking experience wonderful. We were really impressed by Ravinder's knowledge and passion for the mountains. Manali: Beas Kund trek and Solang valley - 3 nights 4 days

Mr. Prem Singh,

Thanks for organising the trek - from our perspective it was very enjoyable and met our objective of a light and comfortable trek. I would definitely like to recommend your name to anyone going for a trek starting from Manali and especially highlight the flexibility you offered in organising a cost effective trek for only two people, the good and hot food and courteous and helpful staff.

We are currently planning another trek (after 1-2 months), may be to Hamta pass, with a group of 2-4 people. Will be in touch with you for the same.

Once again thanks very much for a memorable experience.

regards,

Rajat and friend - 18 June - 21 June 2011

Manali: Hampta Pass Trek

Potala Adventurers has gone out of the way to make my Hamta pass trek truly memorable.  The Guide and porters were true professionals. They were able to assist me in providing information to questions I have and also helped me cross steep glaciers along the way. This is crucial for me, having little experience walking in ice. I also wish to compliment them on the elaborated food dished out everyday and appreciate the extra blankets when weather turns cold. I also deeply appreciate the company for helping me make pre and post trip accommodation and onward travel arrangements without being asked and providing invaluable advice.

David L. – SINGAPORE – 11 June 2011

I went on the Hamta pass trek in early June.  I had not read much about the trek before I left, so I didn’t know what I had coming. I was positively surprised with the good knowledge the Guide had about the areas we were passing through.  He seems to have real passion for mountains and trekking, which was really encouraging for me. The cook did his best to provide us with the nice dishes as far as it could be done.  All the staff on the trek acted professionally in every situation, even when my trek partner was forced to make decision to return with the porters. The cook and the Guide did their best to serve me the food I needed on the last two days of the trek, although we didn’t carry any cooking equipment with us. The tent and sleeping bags we were given were also just right for the wind and weather conditions. Altogether an amazing experience I won’t forget.
