TO VISIT IN AROUND MANALI
Hadimba Devi Temple: Pagoda shaped,
Hidden deep inside the cedar forest 3 kms above Manali. Built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh, its most important
temple in whole of Kullu valley. Also called as MOTHER GODDESS. DEVI MAA in local dialect. Temple is dedicated
to Hadimba Devi. Also called as DUNGRI TEMPLE.
Displays extraordinary woodcarving.
The temple is unusual and in architecturally similar only to TRIPURA SUNDRI temple at NAGGAR 21 south of Manali. temple is
24 meters high and consists of 3 squars roof clad in timber tiles.
Hadimba was a Giantess who
married to BHIMA one of FIVE PANDAVAS of MAHABHARATA who visited at this place during their exile. A rock inside the
temple believe that Hadimba meditated on it and attained the position of DURGA. this stone in local dialect called DOONGER
so called name of place and temple DUNGRI. .
DUNGRI JATRA or DUNGRI MELA
or festival of temple held every year in May month. which is worthwhile to visit. 20-30 minutes of walk from main town of
Manali.
Manu Temple: Manali so named
from the MANU. Who was like NOAH OF BIBLE survived a great flood and believed to be reside here. Located at Old Manali
1.5 kms from main town of Manali. or 45 minutes of walk can take you to this temple.

the PHAGLI fair held here dedicated to Manu which marks the beginning of festival across the valley .
MANU SMRITI belived to be
written at this place by Manu.
H.P. Tourism Club House: Situated at the bank of Manalsu river. The club House with its comprehensive facilities that includes roller skating
ring, an auditorium, a billiards room, a library, a bar and a restaurants, makes a wonderful outing for the day.
Vashishth
hot spring and temple: Located on the left bank of Beas river 3 kms from Manali town and 45 minutes of walk takes you to
this small village of Vashisht. Which offers a spectacular sights of valley. Well known for its hot sulphur springs and temple
of Rama. There are pyramid style stone temple dedicated to the sage Vashishth Muni. Worthwhile to visit and take hot
bath.
Tibetan
Monasteries: There are 2 monasteries of Nyingmapa and Gelukpa
sect of Buddhism. Gelukpa monastery situated at the foot of Siyal village surrounded by small settelement of Tibetan
refugee. While Nyingmapa monastery situated at the center of model town.
Jagatsukh
(6 km): The one time capital of Kullu. Here are old temples dedicated
to Lord Shiva and to Sandhya Gayatri. The Arjun caves are just ahead.
Solang Valley (l4 km): the Most picturesque
settings by nature, it has fine ski slopes which is busy with tourist and local during winter. A small ski lift has
been istalled by Mountaineering institute and allied sports Manali for ski training purposes. A mountaineering institute hut
for mountaineering and skiing courses. During Summer Solang changes its seen to paragliding and hiking spot with numbers of
tourist visiting for fun and adventure.
Rohtang Pass
: 51 kms from north of Manali on the Manali - Keylong - Leh highway, at an altitude of 3980m offers a panoramic and
spectacular mountain view. Far across twin peak of Gepan Goh and Sona Pani glacier. The Chandra river can be seen from pass.
Rohtang is a gateway to Lahaul, Spiti, Pangi, Ladakh and Zanskar. It opens every year in june and remain officially open untill
October end. what it can be cross earlier in March, April month. Beas Nallah offers a good ski slopes.
Arjun Cave or Arjun Goofa: So named after the Arjun of Mahabharata, who meditated in
this cave. Situated 4 kms south of Manali on the Naggar road at Prini village. Which is 30 minutes walk from main road.
Kothi: A picturesque
village situated on a ridge 13 kms from Manali on route to Rohtang pass. Today its a hot spot for bollywood movie
makers.
JagatSukh:
An old village which also starting point of trek and climb to Deo Tibba peak. Located on the Naggar route, 6 kms from Manali.
It has an old temple of Shiva and Gayatri Devi in shikara style.
