Day 01:
Arrival in New Delhi.
Day 02:
fly Delhi - Leh, transfer to hotel.
Day 03:
acclimatization, excursion around Leh. Visit Shey, Thiksey. Hemis monastery.
AT LEH visit Thiksey –
Shey – Hemis monasteries.
Today after breakfast explore
around Indus valley, Visit Thiksey gompa, Shey gompa, and Hemis gompa. Thiksey and Shey monastery
close to Leh city on the way to Leh. Manali highway. Thiksey located on a hilltop with impressive view of the Indus
valley. After visiting interior we drive continue to Shey monastery the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Hemis
monastery is 32 kms from Leh and it is biggest and wealthiest in Ladakh, we visit museum in which the family heirlooms and
relics are displayed. After way back we pass through Ladakh well known as SOS village. We visit the Tibetan settlement at
3 kms close to Leh at CHOGLAMSAR. Finally we drive back to Leh to our hotel for overnight stay.
Day 04:
Leh – Stok Village- Munikarmo (4700 mtrs) 6 hrs.
Today after breakfast we
drive to Stok Village 6 kms by jeep, which is a start of our approach to Stok Kangri. A Short but strenuous day up the valley.
Easily at first then more steeply .Following the Stok River on the true left bank we climb gently. After valley winds to the
right. On leaving the curve. We will have the first glimpse of the snow capped mountains. Arrive at Munikarmo camp. Which
is beautifully located? Overnight camping.
Day 05:
Munikarmo - Base camp (5300 mtrs) 6-7 hrs.
From Munikarmo we climb
straight up the moraine which stands above camp. There are few, very small crevasses which are crossed easily. Overnight camping.
Day 06:
Base camp - Summit of Stok Kangri (6153 mtrs) 9-10 hrs.
Today an early start to
climb to summit. This peak does not require any technical mountaineering capability. Our route initially crosses scree and
boulder slopes and then leads to easy angled snow slopes which require ice axe, rope and crampons. The route is not difficult
but at this altitude it will be strenuous. From the summit of Stok Kangri (6153m), we could see as far as the Karakoram ranges,
Lartse peak and Gelup Kangri and of course Leh city. Retrace your step way back to base-camp or all the way to Munikarmo.
Day 07:
Munikarmo Stok Leh 5 hrs.
Keeping on the left bank
of the Stok Nallah, the trail descends, going past the jagged ruins of the Staklang Kar fort. At its base is a thick grove
of willow. The trail is well worn, being used for the summer movement of cattle and sheep to the higher pastures. The small
gorge opens on to an alluvial plain. The trail through apricot orchards and barley fields, ending at the village of Stok and the Ladakh Sarai. There
should be time to visit Stok Palace
and Museum while we wait for our jeep. Then an hour drive to Leh, and overnight stay at hotel
Day 08:
Excursion around Leh.
Day 09: early morning
drive to airport, fly Leh - New Delhi
