After boarding flight from Delhi and arriving straight on the middle of the Himalayas at Leh, the capital of "Little Tibet", as Ladakh is known for its Buddhist dominated culture. Three days you will discover in thin air for the purpose of height adjustment or acclimasation, the environment of Leh and Ladakh gain by impressions of the landscape with its rugged, desert-like mountain ranges and the green oases of fertile meadows and fields. You will visit the Royal Palace in Shey and Thiksey and Hemis monasteries of. Then we set off for nine days trek. The trail entertaining along rivers, through Tibetan-looking mountains with glacier-covered 6000m peaks and remote villages, where you can experience the lifestyle of Ladakhi. Well adapted to the height

On this trip we will learn the landscapes, culture and people of Ladakh. Our 9 days trek starts at Hinju. We drive along the Indus River to make visits of Alchi – one of the few remaining monasteries from the 11th century. Continue drive to Lamayuru through a lunar landscape. Finally arriving at Hinju where our actual trek starts. Further crossing of small pass, meadows, through tiny and beautiful villages. Than climb to the 4950m pass of Kongski La and further down to River valley with next crossing of Dundunchan La to Chilling. Along the Zanskar River to Choksti (3210m). We climb very steeply out of Choksti. Crossing the Palam peak (5380m) descent to Ganda La (4800m) in to Rumbak valley and across Stok La to Stok. Where our trip ends.

Package Itinerary
  • Day 1 Day 1: Leh to Alchi – Lamayuru (3364m) - Wanla (3090m) - Hinju (3738m)

    Today you drive Leh – Srinagar highway, along the Indus River to Lamayuru which is 126kms from Leh. Enroute visit to Alchi village which is one of the oldest remaining monastery of 11th century. Arrive Lamayuru and visit the monastery. This monastery was constructed by Arahat Nimagung in between 10th and 11th century. History says that in the 11th century, the Mahasidha Naropa visited this place and the cave where he resided and meditated is still to be seen inside the monastery. After the visit, drive back till small monastery on the bank of Yapola River.

    ?Leaving behind highway, you enter in awesome Yapola valley. Continue drive along the road as far as wanla – Phanji La where you take left valley upto last portion of road. Hinju is not far from here. We walk for about an hour along the Ripchar valley to reach the small campsite near the river. Overnight camp at Hinju.

  • Day 2 Trek to Kongski La (4950m) – Sumda Chenmo Dok (4100m), 6-7 hrs.

    From camp you go along with the river. At the end of the river, you pass through the nomadic summer camp of village of Hinju and then steep ascent to the Kongski la. While enjoying the landscape of the surrounding wonderful mountains and valley, gently ascend to the pass. From the top, you enjoy awe inspiring view of landscape of the enchanting valley far flung view next day's passes to cross. Easy and gentle descent down in the valley and continue down as far as Sumdochenmo dok. Possible to see troupe of Yaks. Overnight camp near the small River.

  • Day 3 Trek Sumda – Lanak (4300m), 5-6 hrs.

    After breakfast, start the trek along with the riverside and gorges. On the way, you pass across a beautiful and charming village with few houses known as Sumdachenmo. Visit local house and take some refreshment after then continue trek on right-side down in the splendid valley as far as River. Cross the small river, then gradually climb up to the steep pass. Enjoy the view of superb and spectacular mountains and valley from the top. Cross the pass, you keep on easy and gentle trek as far as Dundunchen base with awe inspiring view. You may be able to see domestic and wild animals around here. Overnight camp at Lanak.

  • Day 4 Trek Lanak – Dundunchan La (4800m) – Chilling (3180m), 6-7 hrs.

    Morning after breakfast, right from the camp gradually ascend up towards the Dundunchan pass. You pass across Shepherds, displaying their handmade skills and things and asking you to buy their products, of Chilling village while climbing the pass. From the pass, you everlasting lost landscape of surrounding valleys and snow clad peak of huge towering stunning mountains. Enjoy the unforgettable scenery of Awe inspiring view of massif peak of Kangyatse (6400m) and Stok Kangri (6153m).
    Easy steep descend, with imposing view of surrounding spectacular valleys and Zanskar River, as far as riverbed to cross the river 2 to 3 times up to Chilling. Late afternoon, explore village, its famous craftsmen and visit monastery and local house. Overnight camp at Chilling.

  • Day 5 At Chilling or Rafting on Zanskar River

    At Chilling, visit village and explore local life or Rafting day trip on Zanskar River

  • Day 6 Trek to Skiu (3290m). 5 - 6 hrs.

    Today after breakfast, along the left bank of Zanskar River and crossing the River we enter in Markha valley. At a short distance beyond Skiu our campsite.

  • Day 7 Trek to Markha (3710m), 6 -7 hrs.

    Leaving Skiu today we will have long, easy and pleasant walk up the Markha valley. We hike along the Markha River and cross numerous adjoining stream. The trail passes through willows, poplar trees and sea buckthorn bushes. Passing by Chaluk, last river to be cross before Markha. Markha is a wonderful village which has charming campsite and deserted fort can be seen from camp,
    Overnight camp.

  • Day 8 Trek to Hankar (3900m) – Thachungtse (4200m)

    Leaving Markha today you cross the river several times. We follow the clear path along the right bank and pass beneath the Humlung monastery. Few hours later arrival at high village of Hankar, continue on the track leaving the broad valley and turning towards narrow valley. As the trail goes higher and higher up the landscape presents spectacular scenes. Lastly crossing the bridge and continue to higher meadows of Thachungtse.
    Overnight in camp.

  • Day 9 Trek to Nimaling (4747m)

    Today trek starts on an easily seen good path. Easy trail at start then gradual ascend with several small inclines and over meadows. Now you are trekking through one of the most beautiful high valleys in Ladakh. Soon after the view of Kang Gyatse peak remain on our site while trekking. Kang Gyatse peak dominate the Markha valley. During summer numbers of sheperds lives in small doksas looking after their sheep, yak, dzo, horse and goat. Continue trek across the vast and grassy plains of Nimaling and having 360° view of impressive landscape.
    Overnight in camp.

  • Day 10 Trek to Kongmaru La (5150m) – Chuskirmo- Shang Sumdo (3660m), Drive to Leh

    Today leaving Nimaling, continue on path where small stream to cross then gradual climb to the top of the highest pass of our trek, with its wonderful views from the top as far as eye goes to all directions. On a clear sky one can see Kangyatse, far across K2 and Karakoram Range and its peak rising above 7000m. Soon after crossing the pass steep and long descent to Chuskirmo.
    We pass the small village of Chokdo and continue along the stream to village of Shang Sumdo. leaving Shang Sumdo, we say adieu to our horseman and drive to Leh. We drive along the valley to Martselang and take road to Hemis, which is hidden in mountains. Hemis is located 45 kms south of Leh. Exploring this ancient monastic complex continue to drive to next stop which is Thiksey, located on a hill and most picturesque sight in Indus valley. Finally to Shey palace before heading off to Leh.

Foot wear :-
  • Good condition trekking boots – not new used before in your country side for best fit for trekking, water proof.
  • Camp shoes, light and comfortable as running shoes or sandal ( like Teva ) for river crossing. Its necessity for you to bring sandles for river crossing.
  • Socks both Woollen and cotton as desire.
  • Clothing :-
  • Gore tex jacket or similar.
  •  Down jacket/vest is good for cool evenings.
  •  Wind/Rain jacket: (ie gore-tex, northface or similar) waterproof and breathable. Its necessity to have jacket while crossing passes.
  • Trekking pants, light, comfortable, water proof /breathable.
  •  Long sleeve shirt Light weight dry-fast (for sun/insect protection).
  •  T-shirts for day time
  •  One midweight/heavyweight fleece (long sleeve) jacket or warm pullover.
  • Short pants, underwear,
  • Sun Hat: cowboy style or baseball style to protect skin from direct sunlight.
  •  Woollen cap for high altitude or while crossing pass or during evenings in camp.
  •  One fleece or sweatpants for cold evenings during dining.
  •  A pair of Hand gloves or woolen gloves
  •  Scarf to protect from dust or sunlight around neck. This is available in local markets with variety of colors.

Accessories :-

  • Sun glasses with UV protection. An extra sun glass in case to replace.
  • Sun screen and lip protection.
  • Moisturizer cream: In Ladakh the air is dry and sun is harsh and strong during day. There are local moisturizer cream available in market. To avoid somehow skin allergy bring your personal cream.
  •  Water bottle. Minimum I - 2 liter.
  • Trekking poles or sticks. If you have your own folded poles.
  • Torch or one head lamp with extra batteries. Petzl or similar.
  •  One toiletories kit, small towel.
  •  Reading and writing materials.
  • Digital Camera or digital video recorder / solar charger.
  •  Water purification tablets
  • Nylone or water proof plastic bags to storage clothes and stuff
  • One pocket knife light.
