Zanskar Classic Darcha Lamayuru via Surichan La 5660m 27 Days & 26 Nights The Great Zanskar Traverse

Zanskar Classic Darcha Lamayuru via Surichan La 5660m
Overview

Zanskar traverse is one of the classic trekking tours of the Himalayan region. Two nights at Manali 2050m and next two days of visits to the Chandra Bhaga Valley / Chenab and the day of trekking between Gahar and Stod valley in Lahaul & Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, allows good acclimatization at an altitude between 3000 to 3500m, before starting the big trek from Sarchu to Kanji. This trek takes us from Manali in Himachal Pradesh to Leh Ladakh Valley through Zanskar and the Himalayan high passes. Many monasteries, villages and breathtaking landscapes all along the route. The complete crossing of Zanskar from south to north. Seventeen days of walking in the heart of fabulous landscapes of immensity and roughness, four mountain passes, spectacular monasteries with almost medieval rhythm. The Zanskari villages, cut off from the world eight months a year by the cold, the altitude and the snow. In order to avoid walking on a road for two days on the historical course of the Shingo La pass, we take the pass of Surichan La 5660m. Which is the favorite pass of Zanskari herdsman living in Kurgiakh, Sking, Thangso and Shanka villages. It remains easier, superb and offers the opportunity to stay in the upper Lungnak Valley allowing us to see more beautiful villages of Zanskar that are Sking and Kargyak, the famous sacred mountain of Gumburanjon and the extraordinary landscapes of the end of the valley of Zanskar. The magnificence of the route and its purpose, crossing the Himalayan range, have made it one of the great classics of trekking.

The mythical course in the Himalayas: 17 days of walking with passes over 5,000 meters that connects Sarchu to Kanji. 25 years and still going on since we put our first step in Zanskar in Sept 1994.
